Mason Baker - Project Coordinator
Mason works in conjunction with both the Operations side of SWEB Development, as well as the Development side, leaning towards the technical aspects of development as well as troubleshooting operational issues. Mason handles most technical issues while interfacing with local utilities, OEMs, and consulting engineers. Mason is a hard working, motivated individual with a passion for renewable energy, and has accumulated experience in wind power on both the consulting side and owner’s side. Mason graduates Dalhousie University with a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering in December 2017.
In his free time, Mason likes to enjoy the local music scene.

Rory Cantwell – Director of Development
Rory leads SWEB’s project origination efforts in Canada and the United States. With extensive experience in the North American renewable energy sector developing utility scale projects for the last decade, Rory provides solid leadership in the development life-cycle, starting from greenfielding through to commercial operation. Rory holds a Master of Science Degree in Renewable Resources from McGill University, and a Bachelor of Science Degree from Dalhousie University.
When not decarbonizing the electric grid, Rory enjoys spending time with his wife and 3 children, playing and watching a variety of sports, DIY, and brewing craft ales.

Mike Carey – Project Coordinator
Mike is a Project Coordinator on SWEB’s USA team. He has been in the renewable energy field since 2009, and spent the first part of his career in the residential/small commercial solar industry before moving to wind in 2013. Before joining the SWEB team Mike worked for Endurance Wind Power, where he spearheaded wind energy projects in Nova Scotia. Mike holds a BA from Mount Allison University, and an MBA from Dalhousie University.
Mike lives with his wife and daughter in Halifax Nova Scotia. On weekends you’ll find him fishing and trail running in one of Nova Scotia’s many wilderness areas. He is also a history buff, and talk for hours about ancient Rome if you let him.

Nick Durling – Operations Manager
Nick is the very first graduate of NSCC's Energy Sustainability Engineering Technology program and has an extensive background in renewable energy. Nick started at SWEB as a Project Coordinator and is now our Operations Manager. He has been able to experience every aspect of wind development and makes sure our projects are always in tip-top shape.
Nick likes to spend his spare time hiking, camping, and hanging out with his two dogs, Brie and Charlie.
Amy Gibson – Financial Manager
Amy joined SWEB Development in November of 2015 as Finance Manager. She has a breadth of financial management experience in both the private and public sectors and helps to keep the company on the right financial track. Amy holds an MBA from Saint Mary’s University, a BAA from Ryerson University and a BSC from Dalhousie University. She believes in lifelong learning and is currently pursuing a professional accounting designation. When not buried in a spreadsheet, Amy can be found at the rink cheering on her kids’ hockey teams or volunteering in her community.

Toby Hall – Director of Construction
Toby is SWEB’s Director of Construction, with over sixteen years of experience in renewable energy. Through his experience with Manufacturers, BOP and Service Contractors, he is able to understand the specific requirements of each project to ensure the successful completion and increased park availability.
In his free time, Toby enjoys spending time with his family and friends. He also takes a bit of time on his own every year to enjoy a remote hunting trip or two. Toby is passionate about the outdoors and renewable energy is a key part in ensuring that he can continue to enjoy it.
Stefan Karkiluk – In-House Counsel
As In-House Counsel Stefan provides legal support for the development, acquisition, permitting, financing and operation of SWEB’s renewable energy projects. After having gained two years of experience within SWEB’s parent company in Austria, one year of which he also served as CEO for a windfarm in Germany, Stefan was assigned to Canada to support the group’s growth strategy in North America. Before finishing his studies in Business Law and Business Administration, Stefan worked as journalist and as a research assistant in the field of Constitutional Law.
Stefan volunteers as a member of the organizing committee of the 2019 World Rowing Championships (wrch2019.com).

Stuart Lawrie – Chief Executive Officer
As President of SWEB, Stuart helps guide the company’s direction, growth and development. Stuart has an MBA in Finance, BASc in Mechanical Engineering, and over ten years of experience in the wind industry. Before joining the SWEB team, Stuart was a senior member of the Vestas’ North American business development team.
On the rare occasion that Stuart is off the clock, he enjoys sailing, cycling, and traveling.

Mike McKinnon – Project Coordinator
Mike is a Project Coordinator with SWEB. He is keen on exploring mutually-beneficial opportunities between business and the environment, which he pursued through roles in energy efficiency consulting and in providing statistical and economic analysis of Canada’s mining industry before joining SWEB in 2016. Mike’s work on SWEB’s development team includes community engagement & partnership development, proposal-writing, policy research and monitoring, technical due diligence support, prospecting, and general project management. Mike holds a Master of Resource and Environmental Management from Dalhousie University, and a Bachelor of Commerce from Mount Allison University.
In his spare time, Mike enjoys playing and watching a variety of sports, fishing, and spending time with friends and family.

Florian Mueller – Chief Financial Officer
After gathering four years experience in WEB’s headquarters in Austria in financing and controlling, Florian joined SWEB as Chief Financial Officer in 2016. In this role, it is Florian’s goal to further the growth strategy of WEB group in North America with fitting financing solutions for new projects. Before joining the renewable energy industry, Florian worked in management consulting and at the University of Vienna. He holds a masters degree in quantitative finance and a masters degree in management of medium sized companies.
In his spare time, Florian can be found most often on his road bike or reading in a coffee shop.

Jason Parise – Development Manager
Jason joined the SWEB Development team in the summer of 2014 where he began as a GIS Technician. Since then, Jason has served as a Project Planner, Project Coordinator, and now acts as the Development Manager for projects in eastern Canada. Jason holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Mathematics, an Advanced Diploma in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and a Masters in Resource and Environmental Management.
Jason has been involved in small-scale community energy projects and has volunteered with several food organizations to provide garden infrastructure and local food programming for the residents of Halifax, Nova Scotia. He is an avid cyclist who also enjoys camping, hiking, indoor climbing, reading, and wood working.

Sarah Rosenblat – Project Coordinator
Sarah is a Project Coordinator at SWEB. Sarah received her BAH from Queen’s University, while also obtaining a Certificate in Geographic Information Science. After this, she received her Master in Resource and Environmental Management from Dalhousie University. Sarah works on the development team focusing her skills on prospect mapping, wind analysis, and interconnection processes. She also keeps us on our toes by managing project tracking and reporting.
In her spare time, Sarah practices hot yoga, goes to Zumba classes, and can often be found at the Boardroom Cafe playing games with friends.

Mitchell Underhay – Development Manager
Mitchell Underhay is a Development Manager with SWEB and has worked developing renewable energy for three years. He is passionate about grass-roots community energy projects and he loves to distill complex ideas into graphics that people can understand. Mitch is currently helping SWEB to break into new markets in the USA.
Mitch does art in his spare time and if the weather is nice, he is probably camping.

Kate Wortman – Office Administrator
Kate is SWEB Development‘s Office Administrator, with over five years of experience in the renewable energy field. Through a degree in Public Relations from Mount Saint Vincent University, she has a knack for communications and social media management. Kate keeps the twitter feeds fresh, while ensuring that every day administration runs as smooth as silk.
In her spare time, Kate can be found walking her basset hound, listening to music, and spending time with friends and family.
